Civilization course introduces El-Oued University’s EFL License students to the interdisciplinary field of Civilization Studies through providing thematic and chronological insights to American civilization, in the 1st Semester of the final year of their undergraduate studies. Both, through covering core American studies topics at the introductory level and drawing heavily and interactively on the fields of history, political science, theology, sociology, economy and philosophy, this course exposes students to intellectual and creative possibilities in the field of American Studies, and the ideas, concepts, and themes that have been central to how Americans understand themselves and the United States as a nation. Also, It provides incoming postgrades with key concepts and analytical tools that can be used in more advanced courses.
